A large number of social reform measures have been passed by the Parliament since the commencement of the Constitution , e.g . laws providing special consideration , guarantees and benefits to backward , down-trodden or traditionally ill-treated sections of the society in the form of reservations , social security , removal of disabilities , minimum wages , old-age pensions , housing and the like . संविधान के प्रारंभ में संसद द्वारा समाज सुधार के अनेक विधान बनाए गए हैं अर्थात ऐसे विधान जिनमें समाज के पिछड़े , पद-दलित या परंपरागत रूप से दुर्व्यवहार के शिकार वर्गों के लिए आरक्षण , सामाजिक सुरक्षा , निर्योग़्यताओं के निवारण , न्यूनतम मजदूरी , वृद्धावस्था पेंशन , आवास आदि के रूप में गारंटी ओर लाभों के विशेष उपबंध दिए गए हैं .
